two of the most iconic houses in California, both of which were partly responsible for my choosing architecture as a (career) path in life. I have always admired these homes and hope to be on site some day to take my own photos and impressions of these masterpieces.
Even though my architectural point of view and personal style has evolved, changed, and even differs from these, I still very much idealize these two houses and they will always be very high on my list of great architecture, especially if one realizes the time during which both of these were built (1946 and 1960). Some newly built houses don´t have nearly as much class, style, honesty in the use of material, sense of proportion and reference to the surroundings, framing everything perfectly. One could not think of these houses not existing exactly where they do, right?
