W A T E R F R O N T A C T I O N | in the past years, brooklyn has been evolving constantly and quickly becoming the `new´ Manhattan so it seems (it only seems that way, Manhattan is the one and only and nothing can take it´s place; but Brooklyn is pretty cool as well...it is different, but different is good). Especially the waterfront is tackled by new and ongoing projects. The Bjarke Ingels Group (=BIG) has now designed “a flowering meadow with seasonal grasses, a sprawling field and a triangular wooden viewing platform”. The images speak for themselves I guess, but as a huge fan of NYC, I had to point out this project and rave a bit about it. I like the concept of this and think it will be a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy the surroundings as well as the phenomenal view of the Manhattan skyline. The platform and structure is designed to be equally accessible above and below. Concerts in various groupings and sizes are supposed to be held here, as the sloping, wooden triangle is designed for diverse stages and an outdoor auditorium for various events. I like what the images* are communicating, and I hope that the project will be built as is planned - not sure when this will be, but I am looking forward to it. What do you think of this project?
*Have a look at the outfit on the second to last image. Pretty cool right? Love it when good architecture and fashion mix this way. Very fun.
