my recipe for a quick and healthy detoxifying smoothie in the morning (or whenever you desire to have one)
1/4 honeydew melon
handful of fresh or frozen blueberries
about one 1.5 inches of fresh cucumber with peel (make sure you wash it well...obviously, as the rest)
small piece of ginger (about the size of a penny)
freshly squeezed juice of half a lime
fresh parsley (as much as you desire, but at least two or three sprigs)
1/2 teaspoon wheat grass powder
add as much coconut juice as you desire to get the consistency that you prefer
add ice cubes if you wish
> put everything into a blender and blend until smoothe. Pour into a fancy glass and enjoy!
this is a very fresh, light, and not overpoweringly green smoothie that gets you all of the good stuff in the morning to get you started for a powerful day.
here is some information on the ingredients >
Parsley / is a powerful green herb to detoxing heavy metals out of your body. it helps to reduce water retention and bloating. it is a super healthy with vitamins A,B,C, and K as well as important minerals. it cleanses the liver.
Cucumber / helps to restore the body´s alkaline level as opposed to it being acidic when you are stressed and have been eating unhealthy. helps to cleanse the entire body, but especially the kidneys. it is fully packed with vitamins and minerals.
Honeydew Melon / rich in digestive enzymes. contains mostly further alkaline fluids to rid your body of any toxins. it therefor neutralizes any acids in you system.
Blueberries / are often titled one of the healthiest foods in the world. they contain compounds that prevent bacteria from adhering to bladder walls. they boast extremely high amounts of antioxidants called flavonoids. this also helps to prevent any age-related memory loss and is supposed to help us learn and store that information. they protect agains early aging and diseases like cancer and chronic heart disease. excellent source of vitamin A, preventing sight loss.
Chia seeds / they are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for brain health. contains very high amounts of calcium, which is essential and important especially for people who don´t eat any dairy. high in manganese and phosphorus. improve heart health.
You can always play with these ingredients and omit/add any of them to your liking. I threw in the blueberries because I love them and pretty much put them in all of my smoothies. If you want a full-on detox-smoothie, increase the amount of cucumber and parsley, as these are the star-players in this recipe.
