after arriving at our beautiful hotel (on which I might do a separate post later) we ventured out for a first glance at Barcelona´s wonderful historic city center. We strolled down the Passeig de Gràcia to the Plaza de Catalunya and then went for the small streets and passages in the Barrio Gotico. We purposefully ignored the extremely full Rambles that day (and most of our trip to be honest). Everything to the right and left from the main Rambles is gorgeous and very authentic, mostly a lot more quiet and relaxed, in other words: so much more appealing to me than the overly crowded, touristic main street.
Every corner and plaza has to offer something new and exciting and fun. It was a Sunday, so most shops were closed, but we got a pretty good first impression of that part of the city. I fell partly in love right then and there, and I hadn´t even gone to the beach or shopping yet! It was a good start to experience Barcelona.
Oh and I have been dreaming of that Arne Jacobsen Swan Chair for ages, but frankly can´t afford it quite yet... maybe some day - for now, a photo in front the display window will have to do!
