Life in Cuba, I often thought, happens mostly on the streets. It is fascinating how so many window sills sell something facing the street and people play chess in their doorways. It is chaotic, wild, often dirty, hot, but also fun, exciting, loud, joyful, and for a foreigner at least really really cool! It is however also painful to see in which conditions a lot of Cubans are living. Knowing this, it is heart-warming how happy, up-beat, care free and joyful most of the Cubans are. We have made a lot of friends while in Havanna, and most of them really inspired me and made me see just a bit more over my own horizon! Have a look at this random collection of people in their streets.
